Yuan Dynasty-style Armless Standing Guanyin

A contemporary hand-carved reproduction of a Standing Guanyin in the Yuan Dynasty (1271–1368) sculptural tradition. The armless form belongs to a long-standing sculptural lineage; many scholars read it as a meditation on the transcendence of physical form.

Hand-carved by master artisans in hardwood with mineral-pigment polychrome finish, deliberately weathered to echo the unfinished spirit of the historical original.

The historical original that inspired this piece is preserved in the Cleveland Museum of Art collection.

This sculpture is a contemporary studio reproduction, hand-carved in the traditional Chinese wood carving lineage — using camphor, sandalwood or aged hardwoods, finished with hand-applied mineral pigments or natural lacquer. Each piece is shaped by master artisans following techniques preserved across centuries.

It is inspired by the iconography and proportions of Yuan dynasty Chinese Buddhist sculpture, but is not an antique or excavated artifact.
