A contemporary hand-carved reproduction of Skanda — Weituo — the youthful armored Bodhisattva who guards Buddhist temples, sutras and monasteries. Depicted shouldering the demon-subduing staff (vajra danda), in a stance traditional to East Asian Devaraja Halls. The complementary guardian to Sangharama Bodhisattva (Guan Yu).
Hand-carved by master artisans in camphor wood with gilded armor accents over polychrome ground.
A Note on Authenticity & Provenance
This sculpture is a contemporary studio reproduction, hand-carved in the traditional Chinese wood carving lineage — using camphor, sandalwood or aged hardwoods, finished with hand-applied mineral pigments or natural lacquer. Each piece is shaped by master artisans following techniques preserved across centuries.
It is inspired by the iconography and proportions of Chinese Buddhist guardian sculpture, but is not an antique or excavated artifact.
