Liao Dynasty-style Anu Guanyin
Couldn't load pickup availability
A contemporary hand-carved reproduction of an Anu Guanyin in the Liao Dynasty (916–1125) sculptural tradition. Anu is one of Guanyin's 33 manifestations on the path to enlightenment, depicted here with a calm, inward gaze and softly folded drapery.
Hand-shaped by master artisans in camphor wood and finished in traditional mineral-pigment polychrome — pigments ground from natural stone and applied in layered washes by hand.
The historical original that inspired this piece is preserved in the Smithsonian's Arthur M. Sackler Gallery collection, Washington, D.C.
A Note on Authenticity & Provenance
This sculpture is a contemporary studio reproduction, hand-carved in the traditional Chinese wood carving lineage — using camphor, sandalwood or aged hardwoods, finished with hand-applied mineral pigments or natural lacquer. Each piece is shaped by master artisans following techniques preserved across centuries.
It is inspired by the iconography and proportions of Liao dynasty Chinese Buddhist sculpture, but is not an antique or excavated artifact.
