A contemporary hand-carved reproduction of a jeweled-banner Guanyin in the lavish Song-and-Liao temple tradition — flowing robes dressed in mineral pigment and gold leaf, with intricate jewellery details across crown, chest and arms.
Carved by master artisans from aromatic camphor wood. Mineral-pigment painting is applied in layered washes over a sealing ground, with selective gold tracing on the drapery folds.
A Note on Authenticity & Provenance
This sculpture is a contemporary studio reproduction, hand-carved in the traditional Chinese wood carving lineage — using camphor, sandalwood or aged hardwoods, finished with hand-applied mineral pigments or natural lacquer. Each piece is shaped by master artisans following techniques preserved across centuries.
It is inspired by the iconography and proportions of Song and Liao dynasty Chinese Buddhist sculpture, but is not an antique or excavated artifact.
