A contemporary studio reproduction of a seated Guanyin on lotus throne — built in heritage workshops through the hollow dry-lacquer (jiazhu) Intangible Cultural Heritage technique.

The process involves more than 50 meticulous steps of hemp cloth, raw lacquer and clay layering over months. The result is a sculpture lighter than wood, quieter than bronze, and remarkably stable across temperature and humidity changes.

A Note on Authenticity & Provenance

This sculpture is a contemporary studio reproduction, built in the 1,400-year hollow dry-lacquer (jiazhu) tradition — an East Asian Buddhist sculptural technique that uses layered hemp cloth, raw lacquer and clay over a removable core, producing a hollow, lightweight form. Each piece is built over months by master artisans in heritage workshops.

It is inspired by the iconography and proportions of classical Chinese Buddhist sculpture, but is not an antique or excavated artifact.
